Hi guys, I was feeding bubba a little while ago and he seems to be having trouble, he bites at the pellet but he's not opening his mouth far enough? I know he has eaten but he just was seeming like he was having some trouble. If anybody has any suggestions I would appreciate it. I break the pellets up for him and he also has baby pellets. I've seen him eat leaves with no issue, maybe it's just the pellets. I'm probably just overthinking it.

I use a coffee grinder, used for my tortoises only. It grinds the pellets up really fine. Then I sprinkle over the damp lettuce. Works for me.

Thank you! I will try that. I'm guessing it's because he's so small still that the chunks of pellet are way to big. He eats leaves and stuff no problem.

For my spotted turtle hatchlings, who have TINY little mouths, I make sure to soak the turtle pellets in water for a few minutes before I put the turtles in with the (soft, soaked) pellets. This helps especially with pellets like the ReptoMin Pro Juvenile Turtle formula.

I feed them a variety of tiny pellets as well. Betta fish food pellets and flakes are well received, as are the Hikari Micro Pellets designed for the tiniest of fish.

Thank you. I have been soaking there pellets. He's starting to be able to get bites. He does have a small mouth compared to my snappers
