My Redfoot is 2 1/2 years old. "She" is 5 1/2 inches and weighs 602 grams. Is this average? 20190407_160502.jpeg20190407_114644.jpeg

Because there are so many variables, the sizes of tortoise can greatly vary. My Cherryhead just turned 3 and is just over 10 inches.

She looks good, if she's eating and soaking regularly and putting on weight over time, then you're doing a good job.

I’d say she’s on the big side, but I’m comparing her to a breeder I follow on YouTube, who seems to have slow growing red foots ( for example less than 4 inches at 2 years old).

Good looking tortoise.

Do you feed daily, every other day, every two days?

What are you feeding him/her?

I feed daily, sometimes every other day, depending on what we have going on. She lives outdoors and can graze as she pleases. She has spineless cactus and forest tortoise seed mix from Sulcata Food planted in her enclosure. She gets a variety of Hibiscus, grape vine, spineless cactus, spring mix, green leaf lettuce, red leaf lettuce, dandelion, chard, kale, turnip, squash, zucchini, papaya, mango, strawberry. I also feed her Repashy Grassland Grazer and canned dog food about once every other week.

Oops, think I accidentally replied to this as in email I assumed it was posed to me, sorry !
I feed her daily. She’s a very picky eater. I’ve given up on many greens, cactus pads, mango, mushrooms, mazuri, as she simply WON’T eat them. After months of her rejecting them, I finally stopped buying them.
So she gets mainly Romaine or green/red leaf lettuce, bits of cantaloupe, watermelon, banana, and once a week some shrimp or organic cat kibble. She will actually eat these things so that’s what I give. I’ve heard that these tortoises aren’t picky, but mine has been for the entire year I’ve had her. She is growing and gaining weight, just at a slower rate than many I read about on this forum. What was the length and weight of yours at 1 year?

I think the fact that she lives outdoors and eats such a variety is the key to her great size!
