What age can I start giving my yearlings a bath every other day? I’ve been bathing them daily for a year which was no problem but I’m just wondering.

Thanks

Mine aren’t a year old yet and I watch them soak and drink, so I backed off the soaks. When I soak they seem too not enjoy them as much as when they were hatchlings.

You can probably start now. Does the tortoise go into his water dish on his own? That's when I quit the daily soaks. ONce they start going into the waterer on their own.
Yep they all know where their water dishes are. Some times I come home to see that there is poop in the water bowl:D

That first year thing isn't anything I agree with. I soak mine daily until they pass 100 grams. After that, I start skipping days now and then.

There is no harm in soaking daily forever. Not necessary, but not harmful. Better to soak to much rather than not enough.

Oh, well they are all way over the 100 gram mark.

I did have to skip a soak the other week as I was running late for college, I felt a bit strange doing that as I like to make sure there needs cone first if you know what I mean.

I have soaked Opo everyday and he is over 2yrs old. I have missed days of course for one reason or another. I do notice if I go on vacation and have someone care for Opo. I have them soak every other day. Often when I come back for a few days Opo will have some urates. Opo has yet to get the idea of using a water dish. I battled the substrate in the dish until he went outside fulltime. I just bought a bigger terracotta dish and he still just walks past it. I have never seen him take a drink from it. But I keep it fresh and full.

When my grandparents looked after them for a week they had urates for a couple days after. They soaked them 3 times just because it’s more convenient for them.

This is the question I am interested in too. My Finn (a RF) is now 4 years old.I don't soak her much because she now has a new, bigger enclosure with a deeper saucer so she can do it on her own. I do spray her with warm water every morning and in the evening if she comes out of hiding which isn't too often. Is this ok
