Hamilton has really peely neck skin. I’m nervous. New tort mom. His eyes are clear and he’s active. Eats fine. I soak him several days a week. Any advice out there?

Greetings.

Try to upload a pix of your enclosure. Someone might see something in your enclosure (lights, substrste, water access, etc’ that is causing this issue.

Whats the age of your Russian? Some pix will help.

Good luck

Tortoises shed skin a tiny piece at a time. It’s most obvious on the neck and looks pretty icky, to me at least. Just let it alone so long as it’s not pink or red

It’s always good to have a picture but it’s probably just the usual peel.

Sheldon’s neck was a little flaky and dry last week. I increased spraying down his enclosure and sprayed the back of his neck once a day, along with his soaks. It cleared right up. I’m sure if you post a picture the experts can tell you if it is just normally pealing or not.
