What are the big leaf plants?

The closest group in the picture is Colocasia.. wild taro or elephant ears... not to be consumed raw... i use it for shade in the enclosure. The tall one behind it is a hardy hibiscus.
Before I knew better, I fed my tortoises some of the leaves off of the elephant t ears ( you are not supposed to!) and they ate it fine with no reaction thankfully . They don’t mess it with by themselves.

Heather, I think you've been doing a great job, both with the tortoises and with documenting on this thread. :) It's amazing to see the different growth rates through time. Pickles and Crusher illustrate well that "individual results will vary!"

They look like happy torts! Can't wait for Crusher to get big and live up to his name. I think the first thing he will go after is the tort riding the bike. :)

As a hatchling, I described Crusher as “just a big ol baby”... now, he may be smaller but he could still care less about most things.. he doesn’t chase or show aggression, nor is he scared of head rubs or butt scratches... “He” is my good boy:) LAID BACK

Are yours sulcata? Just wondering I have a 5 month old sulcata and wondering how big he will be at a year old.

Hi and Welcome! They are Sulcatas.. I actually have 3.. The two in this thread were a year old in April. They hatched at the same time and 1 weighs 5lbs now and the other 3lbs.. The other Sully that I have was 3 in May.. I adopted him just a couple months over 2yrs old and at that time, he weighed less than 5 lbs.. he weighs over 20 now... weights and age vary hugely and every tortoise is different!

I really want mine to grow at a normal rate. But I don’t have an outdoor enclosure or a big indoor enclosure. It’s actually very small. I’m trying to get something bigger but I have limited space. Will he continue to grow even though his enclosure is small?

they grow fast and dont stop growing just cause they are in a small enclosure
U need to upgrade often or directly start with a big enclosure [emoji846]
