Hello all. So today my Tank seemed startled. I was looking out the kitchen window in the backyard and i see him practically running to the back door. And he was all the way in the backyard. I ran out and comes to me so i picked him up and brought him in. I put him in his box(bed) and cover him and hes just scratching at the box like ive never seen. So im thinking hes hurting. I bathed him and turn him over and am looking for some kind of pain sign and nothing. 2 hrs go by and still just scratching the walls of his box.( His box has an opening for him by the way) Hes still eating cuz my wife was feeding him cucumbers while i was examining his shell and skin. I found nothing. I put him back outside and he just runs and goes behind his house. This quick pace and the way his eyes are widened is definitely not normal for my Tank. We also have 3 dogs but they would never bother Tank and anyways they were on the patio laying down when i saw him running towards the patio. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Perhaps there was another critter that spooked your tort.. in any case, he's looking for saftey or cover. Putting him back into his inside enclosure may be the best thing for him unless there is complete shelter outside. Keep an eye out in the next day or two. Try to see how he reacts to his regular routine outside. It may pass, and he'll be his old self again.

He might have been stung by a bee or bitten by an ant.

Its a mistake to let the dogs and tortoise share a yard. Its just a question of time... The tortoise should have its own area completely fenced off from the dogs.
