Hello, recently found out I was sold a coil type UVB and that type of bulb will hurt my tortoise. Does anyone have any links for other products to replace this? I’m looking for something that will just screw into the lamp but if not I’m open to looking into tube lighting. Just uneducated on installing it and such. Any information helps and pictures if you’re mentioning specific products! Or links to show me where to get em. Thanks!!

The mercury vapor bulb will screw in. However it needs to be a ceramic/porcelain socket and this type bulb is very drying to the shell. The best way to go is a tube florescent

Sorry; was asleep- he’s about 6-8 months old according to the pet shop. (His shell is about 3 3/4ths inches) and we’re taking him outside for a bit now. Just when the winter comes it’ll be harder.

Definitely go with the tube over the mvb for the tort. Ive learned here that its very drying and causes pyramiding. Good luck with your lil guy
