We are experiencing a heat wave. I'm in a climate which is not particularly set up to handle high temperatures(we usually worry more about the cold). We luckily have an air conditioning unit in one room- however I keep Atlas in another locked room- just to be safe *in case* from kids and dog.
Currently have heat/basking light turned off with overhead uvb on.

Any other suggestions?

3 month old, 2.25in greek. Keeping it cool as possible right now. Ambient temps around 89 degrees. I have a clay pot hide in there I am spraying with water, which gives an area several degrees cooler to hide away in.

I have a thermostat in my redfoot's enclosure that keeps the temperature relatively constant summer and winter... I use a lower watt bulb (50 instead of 75) in the warm months, which helps keep daytime temps from getting to warm at the basking end.

That's not hot. That is just getting good.

It gets much hotter than that where they come from. I intentionally try to get my enclosures that warm or a little warmer (92-93) daily. As long as they cool a bit at night, it is fine. As Mark said, keep the tortoise well hydrated at those temps. I would soak daily and spray the food with water too.

As long as its under 100 you are fine.

Think about all the people living in AZ and housing them outside in summer. Its over 110 almost every day. It feels like the inside of an oven there...

This reassures me! His usual basking temp is 92-93 degrees, with around 78-82 ambient enclosure temps so I was starting to really worry he'd overheat at almost basking temps in the whole enclosure!!! I have new tort mom worries!!

Better to check in and be safe. Enjoy your Summer heat. (Another close to 100 day here in Md).
