I think he might be a marginated tortoise (testudo marginata) but i could be wrong

Thank you for your response. I will go look at pictures of marginated Tortoises. I am useless with the identification of sub species but would love to know what he is. Thanks again [emoji846]

Not a Marginated Tortoise. They have black triangle markings on their plastron.

Your tortoise has random black markings which is exclusive to Testudo graeca, the Greek Tortoise.

Sub-species I would say more specifically is Testudo graeca terrestris, also called the Mesopotamian, and nicknamed "Golden Greek."

Thanks for your response. Yeah, looking at images of the Mesopotamia he does look like quite a few of those. He isn’t huge, 21cm and is around 62 years old so fully grown.
