Newt is still a little baby, but depending on wether he's male or female (too small for us to tell) we might need a pretty big tank in the long run. From the information we have found online, pink belly sidenecks can grow up to 11inches, which means a 110 gallon tank or more. Where could we find a tank that big? How did you guys do it? Thanks!

Stock tanks work great. You can get a 150g one at tractor supply pretty cheap. Petco also runs a sale about twice a year where anything up to 55g cost $1 per gallon. The tanks above 55g are 50% off. Also check Craigslist.

FYI - Petco (our local stores, at least) have been holding the $1 a gallon tank sale more often than they used to. It may be more like 4 times a year (-ish), but the sales are NOT spaced evenly throughout the year.

The down side is that they have had fewer varieties of tanks on sale (no longer includes the 40 long), and the $1 per gallon only applies to 10G, 20G, 20L, and 29G (If I remember correctly). For the 40B, 75G, etc., they put them on sale for 50% off. It's the Aqueon brand usually on sale then.

If I remember correctly, last year they did one of those sales in July, and I would anticipate (best guess) there will be a sale coming up fairly soon.

For anyone interested in Petco's $1 a gallon tank sale, either get in the habit of dropping by your local store at least every couple weeks and/or sign up for their emails. As popular as this sale is, they do a poor job of getting the word out when it's happening. They don't always mention it in their emails, and rarely is there any trace of it on their website.
