Hoping to adopt

Hello all,
I have lived in Florida for 5 years. When we moved here from Ohio I had two goals- add a bird and a tortoise to our family. I'm interested in adopting rather than starting with babies. On the reptile front, I want a smaller breed of tortoise, maybe a Hermann or Russian? I'm hoping to help someone out who has lost their love for or ability to care for a tortoise. Same for a bird really, if anyone knows of a smaller parrot or cockatiel that needs a good home!

I'll be hanging out to try to learn as much as I can and hope to be a tortoise mom soon!

What part of Florida? I know someone in South Florida that runs a cockatiel rescue and has few of them looking for new homes.

Here in South Florida, I've encountered many unwanted tortoises (in my case, Redfoot) with a simple wanted ad in Craigslist.
I suggest you give it a try.

I have a wonderful adult male Redfoot tortoise who needs to move somewhere warm and humid- I could deliver in August when my daughter goes back to school in Sarasota, let me know if you are interested! We adopted him from a Middle School Science teacher a few years ago, I'm guessing he is about 8 years old. We love him and he has a great personality, but he really needs to move out of Brooklyn- it's too dry and cold in the winter. Let me know pdf you think he could be a good fit.
