Romaine lettuce

Every time I feed romaine lettuce to my three torts they always get a wet runny nose afterwards and sulk for about 5 minutes. Has this happened to anyone else.

Romaine is mostly water and only should be fed as a very small part or treat in their diet.
Because it's mostly water maybe that's the reason. I have no clue why though.

I only feed it as a treat perhaps twice a month.
