I could be wrong but I am 90% sure that little Squirt was sick this morning.

I noticed that for the past couple of days he was a little bit inactive, he was in the house part of his enclosure and didn't really come out much (only for food and water) but I didn't want to bother him, it is winter after all.

I checked on him today to find him munching on his spider plant and then I noticed that in his food bowl it was very watery, as if he had peed in it? But I thought it looked like too much to be pee. It was mostly clear with some white clumps (which I assume was the calci dust) But I had never seen that before and I thought that tortoises probably know not to pee in or near their food so I assumed it was sick. I cleaned it up and checked in his house. There didn't seem to be any sign of him being sick in there.

He is now as active as he was before and is eating a lot more so I'm hoping that whatever had gone through him has now gone.

But I would like to know if with this info would anyone be able to tell me if it was sick? and should I be worried?

Thanks

It sounds like he peed. The white stuff is found in their pee. They will pee in the food bowl and water bowl sometimes.
How are his temperatures, what kind of tortoise and how old? Just wondering if he is inactive it could be because his enclosure temps are too low but i’m not sure of the type of tortoise.

His temperatures are around 35 - 40 degrees Celsius, he is just over a year old and he is a horsefield tortoise.
Had a feeling it might've been pee but I have never seen him pee in his food before, he has in his water though.

Greetings... Tortoises in general love to urinate in/on/around their food, but especially in their water bowls. Thus a good reason to soak them in nice warm water. Like Tricia said, the white stuff you saw was most probably the normal release of urates.

Some info to read on urates - http://www.reptilesmagazine.com/Turtles-Tortoises/Turtle-Care/White-Tortoise-Feces/

Happy Torting

Water bowl? Nah, I have a toilet bowl in my franklins enclosure, he doesn’t poop anywhere else ever.
