Do females bite eachother?

My reptile veterinarian told me about scientific research which shows that female box turtles living together have elevated testosterone levels. I would expect that the same would likely apply to desert tortoises.

That's a very good video, I think when most people read about "bullying" they think it is much more physical and don't realize how serious something this subtle is.

Also, a comment on the bobbing: My male tortoise, Prism, does that too. He does it slower, though, and since he's the calmer, less aggressive one it doesn't seem like a sign of aggression. It might just be hiccups. He does that usually after he eats something. Just sits there and bobs his head.

I have watched DT females relentlessly chase other females, aggressively bumping and hissing, to the point of overturning them.
