Hello all. I don't really know the market on red foot tortoises now a days. I was thinking of getting a trio and was wondering whats a reasonable price on them? The tortoises are all adults the smallest 10 inches the bigger two are 12 inches. What should I offer? or what price is reasonable for them? If anyone that has more insight on the market than me can help would be appreciated.

I usually see them for about $200-300 Per adult animal if there regular northerns. Anywhere from $300-450 for Brazilians or "Cherry heads". All of this is generally speaking.

The market is based on what a person is willing to pay....so what is the person or persons asking for?

Have you seen their purported photos of the ones they are wanting to transport? How are you able to verify those are the ones indeed in route?
I would be picking them up and seeing them in person. I did get photos though

If the cost is what you are willing to pay and feel fine in paying, then i don't see a problem?
I'm just trying to see about what they go for. I thought it was more in the 300 range like 800-900 for the trio. Which I think is about the same as years before. Toddrick thanks for the input. I know it also changes with where you live so it can vary widely.

Are they all males/females/mix of males and females? Are they healthy ? Why is the person selling them? Overcrowding in their tortoise yard? I do not know what a price would be....males/females and over all health would be a big factor.

Here they can be found for $150 each.
It really does matter on your location.
South Florida a saturated with them.
Most of my last 8 or so where either given to me or offered inexpensively and I had some issue in finding them all nice homes.

Northern prices are variable throughout the country depending on availability. Cherries (us bred and raised) on the other hand seem to command a higher price than I have seen in years, aside from the recent imports.

I noticed some cheap cherry heads and was wondering what was going on. Makes sense if they are imports.

Yeah I noticed depending where you are they go up and down. Seems like leopards are starting to get like that too. I've rescued 4 leopard tortoises so far and seems like more and more need homes. Redfoots are still one of my favorite species though.
