He sure looks bigger than 96lbs. He's truly going to live up to his name!

It's a weird thing Yvonne! You see something everyday...you hardly notice (any) change! But, he looks like he's getting bigger everytime we look at him...Ironically, when Linda's mom told us that the mom and dad came from Brad...all of a sudden ALL the Sudanese traits came out!

I've mentioned her before...but this is MONSTRO!'s mom...Big M. Nine years ago, she was 189 pounds...making her the largest female I've EVER seen! 20rsle8.jpg

I lift him! No problem! I've lifted as much as a 189 lb sulcata with little difficulty...but don't try this at home. I used to be a powerlifter...and taking weight distribution into consideration...it's much easier to deadlift 500 pounds than to hoist a 150 pound tortoise! :tort::tort::tort::tort::tort:

Well, that explains it. I'm the complete opposite of power lifter. If he came with one handle like a suitcase, I'd have a chance. Thanks

I finally caught MONSTRO! outside his burrow...and now he's been coming in at night. I noticed that these calcium and lime deposits are ruining my photos! So today he got buffed and polished...tortoise style! A kiddie pool full of warm water, some vinegar, a scrub brush and a little elbow grease (an hour's worth)...and BAM! Good as new!
These first four shots are before shots!IMG_5014.JPG IMG_5020.JPG IMG_5021.JPG IMG_5024.JPG
These shots are immediately after...a little dull but effective!

Then it dawns on me...perhaps a coat of coconut oil will help bring back a juvenile-like luster! First, a generous coat is applied. Five minutes later, a light buffing with a microfibre rag...lo and behold!

A little snack

Then just out'n'out boredom! We'll do a follow-up in a few days to see how it holds!
