can you use potting soil for substrate

Hi i have a red foot tortoise i just want to know if it is ok to use potting soil for the substrate

A lot of people advice against it because you are not sure what is in it. It can contain fertilizers, perlite (might of spelled that wrong, oops), and lots of other things. Even if it is organic it could still contain cow manure, which isn't good to live on. Most people suggest coco coir, orchid bark, or cypress mulch!

Cypress mulch works well and is cheap or just use organic top soil.

All soil isn't created equal.
So the short answer is no.
Some has a lot of sand. Some has added growing aids. Some even has plastic particles in it.
