this is very difficult to say in the least. Franklin, my hatchling sulcata tortoise seems to be on list last legs. His heating, humidity, food, uvb, and enclosure all meet the standards. We ordered him from tortoise town- horrific mistake. Ever since he arrived on the 4th, his health has nothing but declined. He has sat in the same spot in his enclosure for the last 2 days, refuses to open his eyes, refuses to eat. This is tragic, we are just trying to make his final moments comfortable. As hard as it is to see him like this, i am determined to give a good life to one of these animals. Does anyone know any online breeders i can trust? Tortoise town refuses to return my emails and is essentially ignoring me.

Oh no, how terrible! I’m sorry :(

There are some very good breeders on this forum, so look for people posting about it or in the “For sale” section. Tyler From tortoisesupply.com is also a good option, and a member here.

Have you tried baby food carrot soaks with piedialyte added? Warm water soaks with the two items above listed daily.
Also, are your temps to standard to this forums temps? 80-85 day and night with 95-100 basking and 80% humidity?

Got Dexter from tortoise supply, and he is doing great. Has gained 10grans +- in the 5 weeks we have had him.

Asked Tyler if he could pick out the lightest color he had and that's what I got . I'm sure they could help you out.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your little sully. Very sad. Ive been very happy with our lil guy that we purchased from @Lancecham here on the Forum more than 4 years now and all going strong. Lance has a good handle on raising and starting hatchlings. Of course @Tom and others here on Forum always seem to have a few ready to go.

Best of Luck.

You might consider an older tortoise as well. You'd miss all the baby days. There are a few tortoise rescues in Texas, though I'm not sure about how far one or the other may be from you. Many can be found on Facebook, or maybe people here know of some. They are not free when you consider an adoption fee, but they are older and a bit less fragile and may be a good choice for you.

Many regular dog and cat shelters and county animal services end up with sulcatas.

Maybe you don't want to do this at all, but it is an option.

The other breeder sellers listed here are well vetted and good too.

He is still hanging on, we took him to the vet and they gave us some very light antibiotics, were just praying he’s okay.
dont give up on owning sulcatas. you should get another one from a better breeder.
