Haha!! Jacques is tougher then Turt. I brought Turt a eartworm, but he was kinda scared of it. So the lucky earthworm was released back in to my garden.
To be honest, it's a surprise that Jacques is so keen. She doesn't exactly have a reputation for loving her meat fresh and wiggling!

I agree!
But the earthworm is soft and meaty feeling- I was hoping that the texture would appeal to her since it seems similar to the raw salmon.
The movement caught her attention, and when she grabbed it and chomped, that released some blood and gut contents (I think? It was black goo) and that seemed to really get her excited!

Whatever made it attractive to her is FINE with me! Raising my own worms for her, I can make sure they get high quality food plus calcium! [emoji2][emoji2][emoji2][emoji2]

Jacques: "YARRRR!!!!! GOTCHA!!!!! OM NOM NOMMMMM !!!"
Me: "WOWIE, Jacques!!!! You GOT him!!!! And he put up a good fight, too!!!!"
Jacques: "HAHA!!! He was NO MATCH for ME!!!!!"

(Me, THRILLED that I finally found something healthy that she'll eat!!!! HappyDanceHappyDanceHappyDance!!!!!!! :):):):):):):):):):) )

It's not entirely true. From what I've read, if you cut off PART (NOT half) of the worm, leaving the head and more than half the animal still intact, it CAN regenerate its tail. But the tail part that was cut off will die. And if you cut it into more than 2 pieces, then even the part with the head on it dies.

My turtles like slugs and pinkies.
I've got friends with pet rats, and they are really cool, smart animals. So I couldn't handle feeding pinkies to any animals. Even with the pinkie already being dead and frozen, it would be a downer for me. :(
But we're all different and we do what works for us!!! :):<3:

People like me who keep pet snakes can't allow themselves to get too fond of rats. But I do. So I have pet rats too.

Glad to see Jacques has found something she enjoys other than salmon :) have you tried her with prawns? My Alex loves prawns as an occasional treat.

Yes, she enjoys cooked prawns! But, like the salmon, they are not a balanced diet. And I'm trying very hard to get her to eat something that has more varied nutrition, especially since she snubs any turtle or fish pellets I've tried. :)

I just wanted to let folks know that Jacques and I are taking a temporary internet holiday, and will be off for a while- maybe a few weeks.
We are all fine, I just need to focus on other aspects of my life for a bit.
We'll be back! :):<3:
Hugs to all!
