Thank you for the photos and explanation of how to make it. Mo's living in the Ritz Carlton for tortoises! Love the cameras too. I can't wait to show this to my hubby and see what we can come up with. Which areas seem to be his favorite parts to frequent within the entire enclosure?

He loves being directly underneath the temp/humidity probe and in the far back corner of the humid hide. Also spends a lot of time in his log cabin (he can see everything from there, and has a great view of his food rock). It'll be time to upgrade the log soon, it's getting to be a snug fit for him, We're afraid he'll climb in one day and not be able to turn around, and get stuck. But we also think that's why he likes it, it's cozy.

Thanks for the compliments. We got the cameras from costco. They're the Samsung ones. Got 'em on sale for $89 each. It's nice to be able to check and see his food situation. We're also looking forward to the day when he's big enough to swap out his food rock for a food dish (with a lip). Mo's just not quite big enough yet to climb in and out of the size flower pot base we want to use for him. Soon though, soon. Any suggestions for decor, plants, food dishes, any other accessories? What's worked for others? Love getting new suggestions.

So after finding Mushrooms in the enclosure, I completely changed out the substrate (all 12 bricks of coair, what a pain in the ***), and boiled (to sterilize) everything that goes into his enclosure (flower pots, food rocks, hides, water dishes, other rocks). It was a long 6 hour process, but I eventually got it all taken care of. I was also able to take that opportunity to install his new irrigation system too, so that's a bonus. I'll get it all finished/set up next week (hooked up to the pump and calibrated on the timer). There's a picture of the soaker hose layout. I have a 35 gallon garbage can that I'll be using as a water source, but I have to use a marked container to find out how fast the pump puts out H2O in the setup. In addition to the hoses, I also set up 2 adjustable misters in the humid hide. Hopefully It all works out. Keep ya posted. Any other recommendations?

Also, He's REALLY digging the Testudo Mix I transplanted into his new setup. Thanks for that recommendation.

Yes, I set up two Samsung cameras from Costco in there. They connect to the wifi in my house and I can keep an eye on him from wherever I'm traveling.

33B26349-5203-4109-A042-39729642C331.jpeg Well, mo’s Creeping up on the two year mark. He’s now 5 lbs, has fought and won against a bout of pneumonia, and has gone through several phases of very picky eating. All that and here we are, just one more winter away from having him all set up in his “forever home”, an indoor/outdoor enclosure that can provide shelter against anything the Northern California weather can throw at us. He’s getting better at self-regulating, pooping in his enclosure (not waiting for his soaks), and soaking himself when needed. He’s been quite a source of worry, and I’d like to thank you all for your help and guidance through the fragile stages of his tiny tortoisehood.

Most splendid!
Very happy to hear that despite all the trials and tribulations, Mo is doing well!
Congratulations to you both. :):<3::tort:

i used that same enclosure, it is not a true closed chamber, & it was a pain to keep humidity up, & temps, those little opening make it hard to keep,
i got a closed chamber & use that one for outside

Out of curiosity, what breed is your cutie dog? Labradoodle? Mini labradoodle?

This is it, all covered....

(My Fiancee is currently adjusting the humid hide, so it's not in the picture, but it goes between the fern and the hide in the far back corner. )

We found that throwing a blanket over the back half of it helped with both of these problems. It kept heat and humidity from escaping through most of the gaps.
