Hello All,
It's been a while!
So I wanted to ask the group about tortoise shell growth. My Teo was born with a "dimple" in a scute on her backside of the shell. As she is maturing now, It looks like the growth is somewhat irregular (not completely straight and some slight bumping). It is not as clean as it used to be when she grew new growth rings and even though she has a smooth shell, there are some bumps that have developed. I was just wondering if this is something common when a tort has that dimpling on its shell. I will get pictures when I get home from work.

the second pic is my biggest concern.. seems to be a deep groove between the scutes.. her side profile shows how she is a tad bit lumpy but has always been like that.

That looks like pretty normal growth for an outdoor tortoise. They all get imperfections of one sort or another.
Thanks Tom.
would it change your opinion if you knew that she isnt outside all the time?. I have yet to put a top on her pen and I have dogs that leave her alone. I just dont want to risk it though. So she is inside when Im not home. I just want to be 100% sure that its not something I am doing wrong with her.

Does not change my opinion. I can't think of a large growing sulcata that doesn't have some sort of odd dimple, divot, or crooked growth line. They all do.
