Hi everyone, i'm still quite new to tortoise care, as I've only been caring for Penny(my baby hermann's) for three months now, but I feel i'm ready for another tortoise. I'm looking into cherry heads, and am very excited at the thought of having one. They are my all-time favorite species of tortoise, but from my research, not many pet stores sell them, and those that do, my parents are not willing to drive, for they are almost an hour from my location. When Penny was delivered via FedEx, my family and I where horrified, for it did not seem safe, or comfortable for her. Penny did not eat for days at a time, and it suspect she was going through some trauma. I've looked for all possible options, but if it comes down to it, and there is no other choice, I will order online. If anyone can help me, if anyone knows some legitimate breeders, that sell at an actual, physical shop in the Bay Area(In California), it would mean the world to me. Remember, a cute little tortoise's happiness depends on it! :D

Thanks,
Omer

Shipping shouldn’t be traumatic and you have a lot of breeders out your way. Check out tortoise supply!

Jaws and claws in Florida have four baby cherry heads ( seem to be about 4 months). They do deliver and have a guy who does it for them they only buy from breeders they trust so you wont get a sickling.

So, I checked tortoise yard, I checked the tortoise supply, and every one is sold out. Does availability depend on mating season?
Also, after previously using myturtlestore.com, I checked it, and what do I see? They’re available! But then I realize they cost $335.00 which is way too expensive.

And they’re horrible read their complaints! Hatchlings should be for sale very soon. Most are hatching from April-August so be patient. I’d call tortoise supply and ask if they’re expecting hatchlings. If so try to put a deposit down.

If your patient Vicky can add you to waiting list. Contact her and ask when she will more available and she can reserve it for you, I bought 6 hatchlings from her in the past and it’s totally worth it. She is really good at emailing you back too. :)

@allegraf is who I've purchased all my tortoises from. Couldn't be more impressed with the customer service and the condition of the animals. I don't know if she has anything available currently...

Hey everyone, good news! I ended up buying my baby cherryhead from Backwater Reptiles, and the result was amazing. He is healthy and especially cute, and i'm so happy I made the purchase. For your information, his name is Mango and just for fun I created an amazing name for his Hallunnamed.jpg oween costume. It's Darth Smaul! Also I want you all to enjoy him as much as I have been, so heres some legendary photos of this little cherryhead hatchling of mine.

Hes cute, make sure to soak him and keep the humidity up. Backwater reptiles does not have a very good reputation for selling healthy animals.

I'm surprised you would think that. I've heard multiple stories of success with this company and little to no occurrences with sickness or death as a result. I think Mango is in perfect condition, he is healthy, and very active. I'm just speaking from experience, but I don't know about you.

He /she is looking more like a northern then a cherry head. Got any more pictures of the little one?

Forgive me for not reading everything.
But please tell me that you don't keep a Redfoot and a Hermani together.
The nose scale looks Cherryhead to me.
But I only have Northerns.
