I had a eastern that showed up in my flower bed in my backyard every spring and would hang out till fall every year for about 10 years. I named him snap.I used to put fruits and veggies out for him and I would often see him snacking on them. Unfortunately, I haven't seen Snap back for a few years now :(

I’ve been kicking the same box turtle out of my yard for nearly a month worried about cross contamination. Do you not worry about that? Am I being super mean?

There is a risk of disease and parasites from stray tortoises being introduced to yours without going through a quarantine of at least 6 months.

Yes, keep kicking the stranger out... or at least make sure it cannot possibly come into contact with yours.

I figured. She is cute but digging where I grow Skurts food in my front yard. I havent even fed him from this bed terrified. Also been booting bunnies so next year I’ll plant extra in my back yard which is fenced in and critter free.

We had a quick but heavy rain storm about 7 this evening and I noticed Walker was still out so I went to give him some more mulberry and grape leaves right after the rain stopped. While picking leaves I saw her with head under water, she was catching worms as they came to the surface. Older box turtles are so smart and fascinating to watch and learn from.View attachment 240457

Was heavy rain here too, driving to work was like going to repticon. I saw 3 Easterns and 2 large snappers in the Crownsville area.

We might get some more rain tonight, I was out back this morning and a guy was walking on the road and he said I got something for youPicture 3301.jpg He picked it up right out side of my yard on the road. If it's not one of mine that made another great escape he's going to the pond about a block away,I. didn't see all 3 snapper heads at the same time today so I may have to drain the pond some to make sure.

She didn't lay, which is a good thing. We had rain all night, (a couple inches) When I checked it this morning the abandoned hole was full of water.

Good thing she didn't lay. Looks like we will finally get a break from all the rain the next few days. The ground is saturated here and today's rain is just running off into the low areas.

It makes you wonder if they can sense when heavy rains are coming or other changes in the weather to come..

They're more tuned in to the barometric pressure than us poor human-folk.

One thing I have noticed I can tell you is in Florida whenever there is a hurricane approaching, usually the day before animals start acting funny. The birds will all disappear. Fish start eating like crazy (literally the BEST time to fish) Even some people's family dog starts acting wired. I'm sure they can sense oncoming natural occurrences better than we can.
