Hey guys I’m sitting at work (not working) searching for scales on amazon does anyone know of a good one? (It also doesn’t have to be on amazon) ?
See I’m wanting one large enough to weigh at least a juvenile for a Sulcata. But also have the precision to weigh a hatchling I want to consider it an investment so I want to buy a good one that will last. Or is that even possible lol. I’ve never actually bought one of these.
My kitchen scale is precise enough to cope with a range up to 5kg. It would do what you want no problem.
You then graduate to a bathroom scale and finally guesswork with a Sulcata as they get far too big to lift without injuring yourself.
Use the “stranding technique” to weigh your tort. Put a can on the scales, then zero them. Balance your tort on the can so its legs hang over the edge and it can’t walk off while you weigh it.

Where did you purchase yours? And do you have to change the units to kg or does it just transfer after so many?
I asked on our neighborhood group if anyone had one they no longer used. A lady gave me one still in the box never opened. Score! It only goes up to 13lb, but that is all I need for now for our 2 pounder. For my adult sulcata, I weigh myself, then myself holding him and do the math. He will be too large for this soon but it works for now. I almost always ask around before buying anything.
