They look so much like our Pacific pond turtle, now named Actinemys marmorata. But the family name is so far away - Glyptemys insculpta. They could be twins.

The pond turtles I come across are very personable too. They don't seem to be afraid of humans, not even wild turtles are afraid.

I live in Southern California. I’ve never seen pacific pond in the wild . Did they extinct already from SoCal ?
Every where I go , I could only see ugly RES piling up

No, actually they're quite common.

I liked that they originally had these in the same genus - Clemmys. They do look and act very similar. The bog, spotted, wood, and western pond used to all be Clemmys. The western pond is a very shy and skittish turtle - quite like maps. But the spotted are as friendly as your wood, @enchilada Great looking and happy looking turtles!
