Thanks Col

I've used Flickr and Imgur but not working for me. And didn't Photobucket change their 3rd party hosting policy?

You should be able to click on "upload a file" and then browse to where the photos are saved.

So I got the picture issue taken care of. Below are some photos of the new enclosure, from the start of the build and into the late fall. I did not get around to planting it the way I wanted. Once it was functional, the turtles were added. Next spring I will get going on adding shrubs, ferns, etc. I'm 70% sure that I will be downsizing the pond. The turtles definitely utilize it, but it just takes up too much real estate. It's only about 28" at it's deepest point, I think.

Planning the location. Had to have a crew come in and take down several dead trees before I could get to building.

Getting the base down on this uneven ground was difficult. You can see the difference in the second picture. I did go back and lay a board low to ensure I was at least 6" under to prevent escape.

My friend Allen and I after a long day of putting this thing together. 90% was done on a single Saturday. We were beat. Too tired to drink beer, if that's even possible....

More or less a finished product. The electrical is still tempted in(not pictured), but my electric 'fence' and pond pump were functional before the turtles were added.

My wife's dog weighs about 15 pounds. He hit the wire in the fall. I felt bad for him but it was pretty funny at the same time. He doesn't go near the thing anymore, which is unfortunate.

I'm planning on getting a real dog in the next year or 2. A dog that weighs more than 15 pounds at least. The electric wire is a real deterrent. I'm thinking a German Short Hair, as that's the breed I grew up with. That or a pot bellied pig.

I have 5 dogs all under 15 lbs. 3 are terriers, so they woud find a way in. My other 2 are not a hunting breed, so they would be ok. Don't knock the small dogs, plenty to love about them.

Thanks Eric!

So I love this dog, just not what I'm used to. Didn't mean to offend any small dog lovers. I'm easily his favorite. I spend more time him than anyone. He's basically my shadow when I'm at home. I love him dearly.

i was just busting you. You didn't offend. Everyone likes something different. that is what makes the world go around. And Chance is very good at keeping the deer away!

We have Stella. 90 pound Boxer, German Shorthair Pointer, Great Dane mix. My husband wants to adopt a GSP from a local rescue. Just know all creatures great and small have equal value. Alls good. No worries.

I love your new enclosure. Are you putting the wood turtles with the box turtles? I love the electric fence idea as we have raccoons. The area I want to put mine is not fenced in but if I put an electric fence around it like high enough to keep a horse out do you think it would keep raccoons out if strands in the fence not too far apart? Trying to figure a way to have a large enclosure and protect from predators.

Thank you.

This will remain a 3 Toed enclosure only. The woods will get their own, and that's something I need to get started on soon. Once the ground softens up.

I'm not understanding your idea with the electric fence. What will keep the turtles in?

Before I discovered this forum I found you on YouTube. Your enclosures are really great! Thank you for sharing. I am always happy when I see you have posted because it's guaranteed to be informative and fun. Also love the pictures of the turtles thriving in their home!

Wow. Thanks so much!

I have some footage from October, but I just have not sat down to make a video. Soon, hopefully.

Snapped some pics today. Brutally warm here in Illinois currently. Some of the turtles are still out, as the enclosure receives a lot of shade late in the afternoon. The pen is 16x10' and equipped with an electric wire to keep out unwanted critters. All photos taken today...
Wonderfull critters;)

Sorry I plan to have walls etc. The fence would be from predators but we have hawks too so thinking maybe I should go with a covered even though it won't be as big.

The way that its been explained to me, is that once an animal exceeds 4" it should be good to go in an uncovered pen. We have hawks as well. Red tails. They're big, but I couldn't see them taking off with a decent size turtle. Not to say it's impossible, of course.
