I take whatever they bind them with and take it off and make sure they are not too moist. Then I loose pack them in a simple plastic grocery sack and loosely tie it. I also turn the bags every. So I keep about 6 bags of whatever I get in one shelf of my fridge. I never have anything spoil.

Because of the number of tortoises I keep, I buy a lot of produce. My refrigerator and a small apartment-sized refrigerator AND a wine cooler are all full on shopping day. First of all I wash everything in cold water. Then I put several sections of paper towel, folded to fit, in the bottom of a plastic bag and close the bag. By the time a week rolls by and the next shopping day arrives, those last two or three bags still contain fairly fresh produce.

I shop in a store that showers the greens. If they have just been showered, I have to shake the greens. I find that too wet greens rot easier. Sometimes I wash them and them spin them in a salad spinner so I don't have that wet environment.

I put them in a plastic container after drying off any excess moisture . I put some paper towel in the bottom and over the top of the greens . I keep my Mulberry leaves the same way , and they last for months , in fact Speedy is still eating them daily !

Yep, I agree. This is pretty much what we do here.

I learned a similar trick from my mom except I wrapped the greens in the paper towels and then put in the plastic bag.

Same here take out the excess moisture and wrap them in paper towels like a burrito. I dont put them in bags since the endive and others dont fit. Lasts about a week in the fridge until I go a shopping again

This was very helpful to me as well thank you!! my greens don't last as long as they should
The age of the greens in the stores is a factor as well. Unless you are buying fresh from local farmers, the greens have been picked, processed and shipped to the store location.

I just use the vegetable bags and if lettuce I keep it watered if dry. If larger amounts I guess the vegetable crisper tray in the fridge would work well.

I use Debbie Meyer Green Bags that I purchase off eBay. I have a farm where I sell greens at markets and also provide for my sulcata, Bull. I soak the picked greens in ice water, shake off and store in the bags. They easily keep their freshness for a week to 10 days. I will say though, I never have to store them for more than a few days as Bull goes through them like crazy.
