Yeah they just get stained. When it's older it'll go away. He looks great!

He looks good over all. I've never seen staining quite like that, but to my knowledge, it isn't harmful in any way.

I also see some hard water stains on the carapace. I avoid this by using rainwater, distilled or RO water to rinse the carapace after soaking. Hard water stains aren't harmful, I just don't like the look of it on such a perfect carapace. It will wear away in time too.

Thanks I think the reason it stains so much is because when I dump his food in after soaking it water still is in the container after draining it so his enclosure is wet with some small puddles in the lower spots. And the white spots were calcium powder I think I'm not sure tho. And we only have well water here.

I'm on well water here too and ours is very hard and alkaline, and very high in minerals. How is your well water there?

I'm not sure but I do know that it has a lot of iron in it because there was a blond missionary can her for like 8 months and her hair was red by the time she left from the water staining her hair. She was across the county but that's pretty much how the water is here too.
