Ive been reading that nettles are good foods for torts.. is this the same stinging nettles that i hate and are growing out of control on my property? If so im assuming the torts are immune to the painful stingers?

Stinging nettles are just fine for your tortoise and no, the stingers aren't a problem for him or her.

You are possibly reading about dead or "false" nettles, though. Another common weed and good food but called false nettles because they don't sting! The plants look similar. :)

My redfoots love stinging nettles. When we go dog walking we collect bags full of weeds. I always carry gloves for thistles and nettles. Nettles are easy, you can strip a plant by running your hand up the the stem to strip leaves off. Gloves on of coarse.
