So i found Bernadette and then i found Ilene today. I soaked them each 2x to get all the dirt out. they look good, and they feel heavy enough to assume they are ok. Looked For Wolowitz and Rio, but they are not awake yet. i put some food out for the girls and gave them a clean water tub. So happy to have spring arrive and prove to me that my non-native boxies can survive a brutal winter here.

Ilene on left and Bernadette right.

Awesome news Colleen. I had one popping it's head out of leaf pile but she's back down. I haven't seen the others yet......yet! Temps can't increase fast enough!

Found my other 2 today. Soaked them for a while. Female of the 2 had some weird skin over her eyes but after a while, she used her front legs to wipr it off and she was fine. Just excess skin. So happy they are all ok after a brutal winter.
That's Great news Colleen!! I know how worried you were, it's not easy.

I still have one Ornate down, I'm going to dig around if I don't see her by the end of the week.

Yes, THE Ilene!! She did well. I had a rough winter worrying about them all, but i am glad to say they all look and feel healthy, no one feels underweight.

Nice job Colleen, your boxies look great. Nice to see them out especially since you all recently had a good snow storm! Nice to have Spring!

i put my gulf coast box turtle back outside today ....... I left her on top of the leaves , went back later she was gone , so I moved some leaves around , no one has come out yet , but I seen 5 easterns right at the surface , I would think with the 70 degree weather for the next 3days ,they'll all come out .........

Looking good Mark! 2 out 6 3 toeds of mine are up... no signs of the other 4 yet. One of the 2 up was underneath the other one down about 8 inches from surface.

i was considering taking the pile of leaves out of their enclosure but i worry it might get chilly again, so i'll leave it for now.
I'm with ya! I'm still waiting on my smallest F ornate to come up, but with our Bi Polar Colo weather I'm not removing their leaves yet. Our nights are still getting cold. My one female was out exploring today..

I think the deeper they go the longer it takes them to come up , easterns don't go down but a couple inches , I read some ornates go down 2-3 feet ............

I never remove the leaves and grass , they use it through the spring and summer , it'll be dirt by the time next fall is here ........ It gets matted down over the winter , I just loosen it up and turn it over , it lets it dry and warm up a lot faster ..... it warmed up 6 degrees today , that usually takes like a week .......

I had put the leaves inside the den in the fall, and it is a mess, so i will just remove them and get new ones again in the fall. Since my Enclosure has screen over it, i don't get many leaves in there.
