hi, I'd just like to introduce myself. I used to keep tortoises free roaming in my garden in cyprus, however I moved back to uk 4 years ago, sadly leaving my tortoise behind to carry on enjoying the sun. Yesterday I got a new horsefield tortoise called Joey. Can't wait to start sharing our story and gaining lots of information from you guys.

Thank you for your reply! I'm reading everything I can get my hands on at the moment so links appreciated. It's very different from having them roaming around the garden!

I agree with that :) You had the native climate in Cyprus :)

My Greek tortoise, Joe, has been part of the family for over 45 years and is a 'garden tort'. He lives outdoors 24/7 when he's not hibernating.

I've just read your post about keeping him outside all year! He is stunning! Mine is tiny at the moment lol! Only got joey yesterday and already making no adjustments to his enclosure as I read more and more! I guess it's a continuous learning curve!
