My little guy is getting fat:( If he is inside hell just eat and stay under the basking light and just sleep there. If he is outside hell eat and go in his burrow no matter how sunny it is. So i feel like hes gaining weight with no exercise:( is this a problem? If it is is there anything I can do about it?

If you are feeding your tortoise the correct diet and have the correct temperatures in an enclosure that's big enough then your tortoise will be just fine.

They really don't get fat!

In order to be active your tortoise needs external warmth. If it won't come out from under the lamp then that suggests the rest of your enclosure is not warm enough.

Outdoors, he probably doesn't feel safe out in the open. What shelter is there apart from the burrow?

Put the food as far away from the hiding place as you can.

Here are my enclosures. I have 2 burrows and 2 houses for him outdoors. But relating indoors temperatures I guess youre right. I connected 2 kiddie pools together and I have one 120W basking light on one side and 100W MVB on the other side. However since the pools are directly on the ground it gets pretty cold in there. I can try raising the Wattage or maybe put something underneath the kiddie pools so it doesnt touch the floor.
