Thanks to member DandR, who reminded me that I hadn't posted in a few years, & also donated two Sulcata into our care.

My wife & I run a turtle & tortoise rescue facility out here in Hawaii, & we're up to 47 permanent residents as of yesterday. We have rescued many species, including Aldabra, Sulcata, & Pardalis, along with RES, Map, & Box turtles. We've been doing this for 38 years, & I'm a Curator on Turtles for the Smithsonian Institution, & we really enjoy raking care of our hardshell friends.

I'm going to post a few photos, including a couple of the funnier ones, & look forward to hearing from fellow herp lovers.

Welcome to the Forum, Ken!

Am I understanding correctly that you used to be a member? If you'll give me your previous username I can combine the two accounts.

I wish I could remember what it was, Yvonne. My hard-drive failed back in 2011, & one of the few things I hadn't backed up was my forum info. If it helps, my signature was:

2 Aldabra
14 Sulcata
4 Pardalis
7 box turtles
1 wood turtle
3 red-ear sliders
1 Chinese soft-shell turtle
4 Muscovy ducks
1 Australian black swan
10 Maine Coon cats
6 macaws

A big MAHALO to Ken at HI Tortoise Rescue for accepting Donburi & Rafiki, our 2 unplanned and unintended rescues, into his organization yesterday! Thanks to this forum, we were able to get the 2 sullies to a stable point, despite having never owned torts, or any reptiles for that matter. The past 15 months has been an incredible learning experience. However, our goal was to rehabilitate and hopefully rehome. Well, we couldn't have hoped for a better home than HI Tortoise Rescue. We won't be up nights wondering if the torts are being fed or housed properly. Ken's dedication is evident and has brought us tremendous peace of mind!
