I recently built my Leopard a new 8x10 outdoor pen for him to go in. He really likes to go under this one bush in the corner of his enclosure. He just likes to chill under there, and occasionally he'll come out of the bush for a bask. Is this normal? He has access to food and water, and sometimes he'll nibble on the weeds close to his bush spot. It's been in the mid 70s this week, so is it too cold for him to be out and that's why he's taking refuge under his shelter?

Your tort has a new enclosure- that's scary and torts are notoriously bad at handling change.

Under that bush feels secure. He'll feel better in a big area if you do lots of planting so he has shelter and doesn't feel so exposed.

A leopard, hiding in bushes....yep, that sounds about right ;)

Once your tort is used to his new digs he'll become more active. Then he'll go from bush to bush to bush to bush...etc

Thanks! Any suggestions for plants/bushes for him?

Mine is doing the same thing right now while adjusting. He peers out like a submarine. Plant Hibiscus bushes!! Mine loves them!! He also hides out in the mint plants. Doesn't eat it although he could but it makes his shell smell nice after. Aloe plants. He has some turnip greens to he likes to hide in. Grass and dandelion and clover plants too. Makes him think he's on the African Savannah, I think. ;) I bought weed seed mix and he loves the results of it. Petunias and pansies don't last. He'll eat them down to nothing in 5 minutes.
