Hi guys, I'm still looking to connect with tort keepers in my area. I'd love to have friends who share my passion in my vicinity. It would be great to have people around here to network with, not worry about pet sitting or getting good local referrals... I didn't really get any local responses to my "REDFOOT Austin" thread. Perhaps there is someone with tortoises in general around here?

Wouldn't it be fun to start a turtle club in your area of Forum members? Years ago before the internet became all that popular, I started a turtle club in my town. How fun it would have been if we all had the Forum in common. I'm always looking to talk to people about what's happening on the Forum, but I have no one here in my town (well there are a couple, but we really don't come in contact with each other very often) to discuss Forum events with. Let's see...what can you do to get all of you together? Hm-m-m-m.......

How about a craigslist ad. Something like, "Do you like turtles and tortoises? I'm starting a turtle club in our area. We'll have monthly meetings at each others' houses. One of the perks of joining will be belonging to a wonderful resource, tortoiseforum.org. We can have show and tell, discuss turtle problems, and best of all - refreshments! We can occasionally have field trips to visit turtle and tortoise venues in the area." etc. etc.

Let us know how it goes.

I know there's quite a few down yonder. Hopefully they will chime in. Lots around Georgetown and San Antonio.

San Antonio is about 1.5 hr drive. Well, with new toll road it might be better now, but Georgetown is my neighboring town. I'll keep at it and hope to get some action:) thank you

Yeah San an is a drive for sure. The tollway is awesome but costs quite a bit. I used it a lot when I was down there.
I recall a few members being up in Leander. I can't remember the members forum name so can't tag them for you.
