A friend of mine sent me this picture from San Antonio. She found it in a local shop & asked me to identify what sort of tort it was, since she didn't want to buy it if it was a protected species. I can't give her a definitive answer, & so thought I would ask here.

I ran across Timothy Grass pellets at the feed store today. It's made for horses. I was wondering if this would be something safe for Sullies to eat? They'd probably need to be moistened in water, but if it's safe for them, it would make an inexpensive diet supplement.

Noted. Where would I look for something like that? Our local pet shop's on the smallish side & the closest thing that have is a heat rock for reptiles.

Re: the lamps. I did not know that. I'll have to check the temp of the light. Normally Slash goes outside when I head to work, & comes in when I get home. I'm in East Texas. It's normally HOT most of the time. I only keep him inside during winter, & even then there's usually several 70+...

Well, my main concern is, "Are they harmful to my torts?" I can live with a few bugs in the soil if they're not hurting the fellas.
