What tort is this shell from?

A friend of mine sent me this picture from San Antonio. She found it in a local shop & asked me to identify what sort of tort it was, since she didn't want to buy it if it was a protected species. I can't give her a definitive answer, & so thought I would ask here.

    Timothy Grass Pellets

I ran across Timothy Grass pellets at the feed store today. It's made for horses. I was wondering if this would be something safe for Sullies to eat? They'd probably need to be moistened in water, but if it's safe for them, it would make an inexpensive diet supplement.

    ...Still eating very little...

Noted. Where would I look for something like that? Our local pet shop's on the smallish side & the closest thing that have is a heat rock for reptiles.

    ...Still eating very little...

Re: the lamps. I did not know that. I'll have to check the temp of the light. Normally Slash goes outside when I head to work, & comes in when I get home. I'm in East Texas. It's normally HOT most of the time. I only keep him inside during winter, & even then there's usually several 70+...

    ...Still eating very little...

No mucus, & no labored breathing (That I can tell.) The lamp is a Zoo Med Powersun UVA/UVB. Humidity's been around 50-60% The table is 4 foot square, with the lamp in one corner. I've always kept the lamp on, since it's his heat source, but I have a hide (facing away from the lamp, so he...

    ...Still eating very little...

I have a sullie that's about 2 years old. He ate like a machine all through the winter. We left for about a week in early March. The house got down to the low 60's or high 50's while we were gone. (Thermostat did not kick on for some reason.) Slash had his heat lamp the entire time though...

    Sick Tort? (not eating)

RE: Sick Tort? No, his light was on the whole time, but he's not hanging out in his basking area. Instead he's staying in his hide.

    Sick Tort? (not eating)

Hi. I have a sullie that's around 2 years old. He has an indoor table. We had to leave home for about a week, so I left out a tray of water to soak in, a pile of fresh greens, and a pile of timothy hay. When we got back, the food had hardly been touched. At first I just chalked it up to...

    Double Checking.

Thanks! Figured it was something like that, but wanted to make sure.

    Double Checking.

I THINK everything's ok, but figured it was best to ask the experts & be on the safe side. My 4 Sullies are about 2 years old. They've been in an indoor table most of that time. I fed them some grasses, but mostly the recommended greens etc., & some timothy hay. They finally got big...

    Vacation feeding question #2

An addition to me previous question: As I mentioned, I'm going on vacation for a week next year, & will have to leave my yearling-ish Sullies alone in their table. I was wanting to add a few cheap potted type plants that they could gnaw on while I'm gone. What would be my most cost...

    Vacation feeding

I've got 4 baby-ish Sullies (They're about 9 or 10 months old) in a 4'x4' table (They're still too small to be left outside.) I'm going on vacation for about a week in March, and have yet been able to find anyone to look after them while I'm gone. I was considering removing their substrate, &...

    safe pesticide?

Well, my main concern is, "Are they harmful to my torts?" I can live with a few bugs in the soil if they're not hurting the fellas.

    safe pesticide?

I've got 4 baby sullies. (approx 6 months old.) Their table is about 4'x4', with an organic topsoil/sphagnum moss mix substrate that I use to grow grass in, so the fellas can graze. I noticed that there are these tiny gnat-like bugs in the table now. What can I use to get rid of the bugs...

    Pyramiding help...

..Hehe... Yeah, I admit it. I'm a worrywart when it comes to my pets. Okay. I'll quit fretting so much. ..Or at least, I'll try. [hr] Good idea. Thanks!
