    You've Got Mail!

They're lovely! You might be surprised by how much the darker one's coloring changes. My gulfie started out looking like that, and the tan/gold markings on his/her shell have really brightened and widened while keeping the dark base. It's really lovely. I'll see if I can find a picture.

    Should I hibernate this year?

Thanks for the replies! I think I will keep them up this year and possibly look at controlled hibernation next year, like in a fridge or basement. I still have all my lighting and whatnot, just need to get them a bigger tote for the winter.

    Should I hibernate this year?

I have two juvenile boxies, a three toed and a gulf coast. Both are a little over a year of age and were kept up last winter. They lived strictly indoors with lights and heat. This past May I built them a very nice outdoor habitat and moved them outside, where they have thrived over the summer...

Plants/ grass in my turtle enclosure?

I've never experienced pill bugs getting out. They hide quite a bit under wood and plants, and also dig down a bit into the soil. They don't seem to climb upwards, if that makes sense. I've gone through at least a hundred in a year and never found one in my house. My babies are still young and...

    When can they live outside?

Thanks for the input. I think I will go ahead and build them something to stay outside in for the summer that is predator proof, and also look to upgrade their indoor housing.

    When can they live outside?

So I have two young boxies, one three toed and one gulf coast. My three toed is probably about a year old and my gulf coast is about 9 months old. They are roughly the same size and housed together in a rubbermaid tote. Their current enclosure is probably about 40 gallons. I'm not positive of my...

New baby 3 toed box turtles!

A couple things I've discovered about them that might make you feel better. -They are TOUGH. My young three toed and gulf coast went through a period of illness a few months back that scared me to death. With the help of my vet and constant monitoring, they pulled through and are thriving. Yes...
