    Coco Chip pros and cons

I ended up shelling out for repti bark. Not cheap, but tried and true.

    Coco Chip pros and cons

Would "walk-on fir bark" be the same as Reptiles-bark?

    Coco Chip pros and cons

I'm getting ready to move my girl into a much larger enclosure. I've used Repti Bark in the closed chamber I have her in now for a almost 2 years. It's very expensive, and would be needed in a huge amount in the new setup. I have no idea where to find it it bulk. Would coco chip be a...

    Closed Chamber Substrate Hygiene/maintenance

I did a full change yesterday. I'll keep an eye on it and see how long it takes to dry out/accumulate water.

    Closed Chamber Substrate Hygiene/maintenance

It very well could be. I'd been trying to use a larger water dish and the tortoise dumps it without fail almost every single day.

    Closed Chamber Substrate Hygiene/maintenance

So, I've been using a greenhouse for a closed chamber for about a year and a half. Everything seems to work fine, but there's one issue that annoys me to no end. It seems like after about 2 months, my orchid bark substrate starts to stink. I spot clean daily and scoop when I see waste or...

Replacing Live Plants with Artificial: Questions

I'm unsure. They fly, but are very weak flyers. They have very thin abdomen and thorax. I need a magnifying glass to get a decent look at them, but they are very gnat-like. I'm not going to use any plastic pants if the risk is high. Right now I just have a couple of shelters.

Replacing Live Plants with Artificial: Questions

Hello to all. I've been maintaining live plants in my Burmese star enclosure for about a year and a half. They are pothos plants. My issue with them is that they always seem to fall victim to thrip infestations that spread throughout my enclosure, and to some extent throughout my reptile...

The Best Way To Raise A Sulcata, Leopard, Or Star Tortoise

Are Hosta leaves okay to feed? I thought I read that someone was feeding them to stars, but not sure. I have tons of them and they will soon go dormant, so I could feed a few to the tort if that's acceptable.

Really wanting a platynota. Have some questions.

I'm seeing that most are using the Arcadia T5 12% bulb. I assume I need to go higher than the Zoo Med 5.0? I don't see Arcadia 12% T% bulbs anywhere, just 14%. Will this be fine or maybe the Zoo Med 10.0?

I skipped the bulb and bought the Jungle Dawn LED Bar. It says it plugs straight into the wall.

Really wanting a platynota. Have some questions.

Well, I found out that there was a greenhouse that my mother had given my wife out in our shed. It has a metal frame and a cover that goes over the frame. I built the frame around a 75 gallon tank and then placed the cover over the frame. I hung the lights from the high bar fo the frame...

Really wanting a platynota. Have some questions.

Alright, I think I have things running to where they're where I need them. My humidity is between 83-87 all day , and my daytime ambient with a 60W flood is 87 most of the time. It never goes under 77 without a CHE, which I'm running atrial with for the next few days. I can't imagine it won't...

Really wanting a platynota. Have some questions.

I have another question about lighting: Do I need to run the T5HO fixture the entire length of the enclosure? Is it better to go with a larger say 24-48 inch bulb in a 4ft chamber or will a 18 inch bulb get it done?
