He's gorgeous! I have a blue tongue, too; 'she' is not even a year old yet. :)

INTRO to me and two greek tortoises ... pix of one included ... as bait :)

Welcome to the forum! I also live in sunny, humid Georgia and have a Russian tortoise named Higgins. :) You don't by chance work at Zoo Atlanta, do you? My husband is conducting some research there so we are frequent visitors.

    Outdoor hatchling pens

Looks like you have a really great space for your tortoises. :)

    Hibernation

I don't have a strong opinion either way. My plan is to see what my tortoise wants to do when winter starts rolling around. I had a bearded dragon for 10 years and that is a species that also brumates (though their temps can't go as low as a tortoise). She brumated most years but occasionally...

    Help please !

Hmm, okay. It's a strip light UV, which is good, but it will need changing soon (they usually need replacing every 6 months). :) I agree with the suggestion to reorient the heat bulb. Maybe he is just not getting warm enough?

    Indoor enclosure complete!

Woah, you have had him for 15 years? I love to hear things like this! I know someone through the various BTS forums who has had her girl for 17 years. Gotta love the 'old' reptiles. :) My husband's boa made it to age 21; he was bought as a baby when the husbeast was just 12 years old. I...

Could you describe what kind of UV light you are using and how old it is?

    Indoor enclosure complete!

Thanks! :) Meraukes are basically a subspecies of the IJs. Some people in the hobby don't believe there's a difference but Meraukes tend to have a set of characteristics that sets them apart from many IJs, IMO. But that's not why I bought her; I think all the blue tongue species are just...

    Indoor enclosure complete!

Thank you, everyone! I am really pleased with how it turned out, and Higgins seems to love it. :) The only thing he didn't like were the potted plants, which I moved since he was fixated on knocking them over. When they're big enough to safely plant, I'll put them directly into the substrate...

    Indoor enclosure complete!

I still need to do a proper intro post for my Russian tort, Higgins, but I am just so excited to finally have this enclosure done that I am going to share it with y'all. :) The design concept was all my husband's and he did a lot of the drilling/heavy lifting. It's taken us much longer than we...

    Tortoise Clothes??

I think it's cute and silly and fun. :) I'd take pics and then put the 'clothes' away. They're not meant to be worn constantly.

2 yellow sliders available in Metro Atlanta

My local animal control called me to pick these cuties up. They seem to be in pretty good shape and came with a number of supplies (food, filters, tank cleaner, etc) but no tank. I am not set up for long term care of aquatics so I am looking to rehome these wee ones as soon as possible. I'm in...
