Thanks everyone. Yes, well versed in boxie care I have two westerns that I have had for over 10 years. She is extremely picky eater, I have had to almost puree foods to get her to eat anything other than fruit. She is not a hugs fan of worms, which I find shocking because my other two will move...
I was given this three toed box turtle. She is 32+ years old and lived most her life in a classroom. I know that most her diet was fruit and she came with a tub of vitashell (). I do not know if she has had exposure to UV light or not.
Her shell looked looks very "flaky". Shape is pretty good...
My local grocery store has dried Jamaican Hibiscus in the produce section. Is this safe for tortoises? I have a red foot that loves regular old fresh hibiscus. I went ahead and bought some. I thought I would soak it and then give it to her.
I have a red foot, two box turtles and a leopard. But nothing living outside. I am at 8700 ft and so the weather doesn't cooperate very well. We are trying to figure out how to make our sun porch into some sort of year round room for the leopard once she is bigger. Sorry, I can't be of more...
Just on vacation for two weeks to Paris and Iceland. I would just feel terrible for my house sitter. I have already added three chicks she wasn't aware of. And then to add a another tortoise in another cage (for quarantine) would just be mean
I meant to post it was taken down late last night. It was a red foot for $100. Living on pine shavings in a small aquarium, but he let it run around the house most days so it really wasn't in his cage much :/ I hope he found a good home. My inn is so full and we are leaving the country soon.
Would anyone in Colorado be able to take this one in?? Poor thing is living on pine shavings and wandering around this persons house!! http://cosprings.craigslist.org/pet/5018420594.html
Blackberries are a favorite of my two ornates, well pretty much all berries. Try giving berries and the the next feeding chop them up with a small amount of other food. I sneak all sorts of nutritious things in this way. Also their calcium in like this too. See if you an find any dandelion...
As someone who has done raptor rehab before, a bird that eats birds is usually part of the accipiter or falcon family. And as long as you keep the feeder he's sticking around, unless he is migrating through. I highly doubt it would go after tortoises too.
This is my little chi-mix, most likely with Yorkie. Adopted her from a rescue this past summer. She definitely has the chihuahua trait of barking, but also got the chi clown trait. She is an absolute delight. Congrats on your new adoptee!!!
Such a sad evening. Stopped at Petco to get crickets (not usually were I get them but it was an emergency). They had 4 Greeks and 2 red foots house together. The Reds looked so sad. If I thought for one second that I could find another spot in my house for two new enclosures, I would have...
Red foots!!! My girl is so funny and bossy. Never pulls her head in and is always waiting for her food. She sees you coming up are stairs and comes right to the edge of her enclosure.
Tiger salamander would most likely not do well in that environment, they are mostly land dwelling as adults and they are NOT tropical. Think about their natural habitats, the Great Plains to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains There might be other types of newts and such that would be better...
We have four dogs, that get us up every morning at 4am. One is obsessed with butter, body butter, tub butter, butter butter, peanut butter..... And will go to any length to get at butter. She is also obsessed with Tupperware, even clean right out of the dishwasher Tupperware. The newest puppy is...
