    Look at Morla’s tail. Short or perhaps a bit nubby may mean a female, if longer tail you can probably assume male. Also look at the notch. Females have a U shape notch, males have more of a V shaped notched. Morla looks super adorable!!

    My guess that it may be a green or maybe a fungi. Try soaking him and maybe see if you can wash it off if he isn’t too spooked. If it doesn’t come off I’m not so sure what it could possibly be.

    Looking at their tale is a huge help. Normally a female would have a thicker tail, and opposite for male(thinner) I may be wrong but ideal I suppose.

    I live in SWFL and we’re known for the vast humidity. I got my Russian tortoise for almost 2 months now so we haven’t had a winter together. Because of the heat I wanted to know if she will hibernate down here and how to prepare for that if she might.
