When I had a box turtle that could escape like Houdini , I wrote my phone number in magic marker on his shell. Doesn’t harm the shell and gives me some extra peace. It fades with time. Might help!

When box turtles die they lose all muscle contraction and flop open. If the shell is tightly closed she is alive.

Why do you cook his fish/shrimp & pork? I would think raw fish/shrimp would be better nutrition, but forget the pork.His kidney disease dictates no protein for a while or very tiny amount and hopefully when he gets hungry enough he will eat vegetables. Do not cook his food. Gout is urea...

It could be ear infection or abscess. If so it may require antibiotics. A vet check is needed.

Spring Mix lettuces have spinach in them - an Oxalate that causes kidney stones in turtles/ tortoises and other species. Check the ingredient list before you buy.

It usually takes a long time for a turtle/tortoise to die from illness or malnutrition. Petco is at fault, not you. Bring a picture of the dead tortoise along with the receipt ( or the body) and demand a full refund.
