Definitely a female as she’s one of my egg layers. She must of just found her voice (probably since the Mazuri was delivered) thanks for the info domalle
Hi all,
During my daily check on my group, one of my females walked towards me chirping/clucking. As soon as I gave her a bit of Mazuri it stop but when I offered one of the other torts some she started up again. The noise is pretty similar to that of the male when he’s mating. I know it’s on...
I personally enjoy his videos, I used to follow him when he rode Bmx and only recently discovered his channel. He seems to do a pretty decent job of caring for his animals and they all seem pretty happy. He must be doing something right
I use a mistking system with a few nozzles. My enclosure is 9ft x 9ft and I can keep the humidity around 80 - 90 percent with this set up. It’s on a timer so sprays for as long or as often as required.
Redfoots are often found in groups in giant armadillo burrows, this has been documented. I think we're too new to keeping tortoises to say they can or can't do certain things. A classic example is that until recently we believed dessert dwelling tortoise needed very little humidity, how wrong...
I house a redfoots with a cherry heads with no problems at all, it's just personal opinions on wether to not mix regional tortoises. So its totally up to you.
Have you got access to limestone flour? I'm not sure on the supplements, but I've been using limestone flour for about 8 years with no problem. I do use cuttlefish fish aswell but it's not as easy to digest as the flour. Hope this helps
I'd mix it in, you could put a set amount on the surface for a hide, something for them to snuggle in. I mainly use it in one area of the enclosure, it helps to loosen the soil for my laying female. But the others like to dig in it as well.
Lol, he did try to do the great escape but I was giving him a sponge bath so didn't get far, they love the soil! But also the male seems to poop on the females lol dirty bugger

Hence the dirty water lol
Sphagnum moss is good but I mix it in with the top soil, thing is with moss it can hold moister well but it can also dry out pretty quick on its own, well that's what I've found. You can spray the little guys soaking, again I do this. I'd recommend plants in the enclosure if you can, the torts...
