George and his? 4th year with us! (question at the end!)

Thank you all for your input, i'll try to get him more humid, along with even more regular bath's to keep his shell hydrated! he has constant access to a uvb bulb and a varied diet of the recommended greens / leaves and multi vitamin calcium powder. i realise its "minimal" pyramiding, he had...

George and his? 4th year with us! (question at the end!)

it was just the last picture really, how it goes from a slope into a sort of "dome" at the top. He was rather round as a baby and i guess its just how he's growing. being our first tortoise and reading so much about MBD with poor care, i wanted to make sure we were going down the right path. :P...

George and his? 4th year with us! (question at the end!)

No problem :P Any thoughts into the shell growth? should i be concerned or is it just him growing older and bigger?

George and his? 4th year with us! (question at the end!)

Thank you, we kept testing and changing things based on how he reacted to placements of items. We at first had a rubbish substrate that came with the table (that white stuff you see in the first photos) we quickly changed to a top soil that he much prefers and can dig into at pleasure. every...

George and his? 4th year with us! (question at the end!)

I honestly never thought i could love something like a tortoise as much as i do! He's got such a little personality and it's all down to my wife and her 10 years of "pestering" for a tortoise! I thought i'd share a few snaps of him with you all, as well as take this as a chance for a "review" of...

    Back leg's question

Yeah I figured it was a ball park figure, I'll see if I can get hold of a proper meter and mount the light at the right hight. Thanks for all the advice.

    Back leg's question

Oh ok. Well on the box, it gives a hight scale showing the uvb rating at various distances away from the reptile. A 2 rating is shown at 30 cm away.

    Back leg's question

Thank you, I'll get the uv checked asap. Its been this high for 3 years, hope its not been too close to cause any damage to his eyes or skin! I think I'm just over analysing how he walks. How much uv on a reader should he be getting from the bulb?

    Back leg's question

We are upgrading his enclosure as he grows, he was 5 week old when we got him at 22grams. Now as a 3 yr old and 130 grams we can see he'll need a bigger space soon. he roams around and climbs all day long. He poops / wees and urates daily in his enclosure or bath. Bath time is usually 2-3 times...

    Back leg's question

Hi guys/ gals. Can someone please take a look at George and how he walks. I've noticed that when he's outside, he tends to prefer to... be lazy and not really raise himself off the floor. he's not a dragging of his back legs as he does use them to move forwards. While hes inside, he's constantly...
