    Russian Tortoise Not Eating

Hello! I've owned my Russian Tortoise, Russell, for a little over a year now. He is always a great eater and enjoys the many veggies that I give to him, such as kale, spring mix, escarole, mustard greens, etc. I switch up the greens almost every week and combine some greens together to make a...

    Normal Tortoise Shell??

Ok, after some more digging I figured it’s a growth ring. It is soft in texture - however, it is more pronounced than I anticipated. I’m posting a photo below for another reference - this was taken February 9th. He is on a diet of mixed grocery greens, including dandelion greens, collard greens...

    Normal Tortoise Shell??

Hello, everyone! I’ve had my russian tortoise for over a year now. I just noticed his shell looks a little abnormal. I’m referencing the thick white “line” that is under his scutes. It trails all around his shell. I’m wondering is this just normal growth or is this something I need to be...

    Supplements for Russian Tortoise?

Hey everyone! I’m just wondering what type of supplements + how often to give said supplements weekly. I really don’t want to over/under do it for him, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Russian Tortoise Diet (SOS)!

I really appreciate the tips! I constantly struggle with finding a small enough bag of greens that will last me throughout the week. Every time I buy some greens, I look in the fridge the next day and there's some gross brown stuff already starting to accumulate :(! But yeah, I'm thinking I...

    Russian Tortoise Diet (SOS)!

Thank you - Yes, we do have stores that carry dandelion greens. I just don't know if that should be considered a "staple" for his diet or not.

    Russian Tortoise Diet (SOS)!

Thank you!! I was looking at the Tortoise Table app and I was getting so disappointed because most of them are weeds. But good to know! I've never heard of the Wedge but I will definitely check it out for a little day trip!

    Russian Tortoise Diet (SOS)!

Hello, all! I am really struggling to curate the ideal diet for my Russian. I live in Minnesota, and right now there is tons of snow on the ground, thus I am unable to find any weeds or grasses. That being said, it is a given that my Russian is in an indoor enclosure. I am very limited in what...

    Pyramiding??

Aww, thank you! I was checking out your page and I've learned so much already. I went out today and bought some coco coir, a terra cotta plant saucer, and a nice big box for a humid hide that I plan on keeping at 95% humidity. I really admire you and I'm so thankful that you commented on my...

    Pyramiding??

Thank you for the correction. I'm quite new here so I haven't had a chance to look at all the forms yet. I just knew that big chain stores were bad and that PETA had videos of the "farms", which I now know detail the illegal smuggling rather than the legal imports.

    Pyramiding??

That would make sense, however I don’t think he’s fully grown yet. He’s barely 4 inches long.

    Pyramiding??

Thank you!! His name is Russell, named after the little kid from the movie Up. I really don’t like purchasing animals from Petco for many reasons. Petco purchases their animals from mills. These mills abuse and neglect the animals, and unfortunately, many animals suffer and die. Additionally...
