    Painted turtle

RE: Male painted turtle It looks like he has a massive bilateral ear infection...the other side looks very swollen, too. A qualified vet could probably lance and drain it. Is he eating? Is he wild caught?

My tortoise lost his feet :(

I'm thinking heating pad, also. Those can get hotter than anyone thinks, especially when covered with something.

    leopard tortoise skeleton

I agree. Looks like some significant MBD happened there. Bones look spongy and porous. Wonder what a cross-section through the biggest, odd lumps/humps on his back would look like? Fascinating!

Infrared - sunlight vs. basking lamps

Will have to look this over much more in depth tomorrow when I'm not half asleep and snowed in, but this looks to cover the entire enclosure, at least, obviously, for your test. I think the concept is fantastic, but wonder about adapting it to a somewhat smaller enclosure, or, more accurately...

What is the physiology behind pyramiding?

I think that's a fair and concise summary. After thinking all of this through a great deal, I'm very interested to explore lighting and heating changes, and dietary changes as well, since I have no option right now but to keeo them inside in the winter. I've added a humidifier to my animal room...

I find it personally offensive that you are as arrogant and denigrating as you accuse others of being, Tom. You convey as much of an attitude of contempt and 'it's my way or you'll fail' as you accuse others of. I also find it astonishing that so few here seem to be able to truly read and...

    New Suet VISITOR

We have them in our woods here in upstate NY. They are pretty impressive when they are in flight, and have a very distinctive, and loud, woodpecker call.

    Mega Ray Bulbs (Reptile UV)

I took a chance and ordered one on Nov. 19, and sure enough, it was shipped the next day. Received it two days later, and it's set up and working fine. I used them years ago, but then had such a hard time ordering, I gave up. I'm really thrilled to have one going again. Don't have a solar...
