Well, don't think the heat issue is a problem at this point. I put in the Reptisun light about 12 inches from the top level instead of the two feet from the bottom level. The top is where is food and water is so when he is not outside, He can at least get "something" until I go buy another...
Ok, so the moss is sooo out and after I read that, I remembered we did try the sphagnum area before and I think he did eat it but it was so long ago, I forgot about that. I was mainly going to use if for a humidity source but will figure another way to get that. Can't build the thing...
New Enclosure: We are in the process of finishing up a new indoor enclosure for our 7 year old red foot. I have questions to make sure this is right.....or even close because it is a whole new set up from what he had before so all the configurations are changed.......Inside the dimensions...
That might work. We did originally try to control the humidity by keeping a closed system with plexiglass on top and a fountain of running water in there in addition to a water/soak bowl but it would never come up to the humidity needed. Could have been the bulbs drying it out. We were...
Red eyes: Male. Brown eyes: female. But there are some males/females that try to break the eye rule. HAHAHA! Underside of female is flatter and there is also something about the tail that can be different with males but I can't remember what it was. Males are usually more brightly colored...
Just found this thread because I am double checking Sheldor's tank conditions until we build a new one. I think everything is ok but I would like to defer to those more experienced. This redfoot is a whole lot different from all the Eastern box turtles I kept as a kid. The tank has bark...
I am checking into the flower mix! Thanks! Hmmm....we Do have salmon in the freezer. Do you cook it or leave it raw? I will try the earthworms the next time my son goes fishing and has some left!
I will keep him away from the driveway! So far, when he goes outside, we take him out to the pasture and he pays more attention to plants and walking around then eating much but he is still small.
I love this! We have been feeding daily because he is so small This affirms sort of what we have been doing He had red pepper slices today for the first time and LOVED them He also likes dandelion flowers from the yard I tried mushrooms but he didn't even take a bite We have been...
So far, the only rocks (other than outside) are pieces of shale I stole from the goldfish pond He lays on them and eats from one but I haven't seen him take a bite yet I never would have thought to look to see if he was eating rocks!
HAHAHAHA!!!!! When the dollars started mounting up, one of my friends just shook her head and said, "I told you the next animal you needed was a llama. You could have had a llama. "
