I bought these 2 cherryheads from Tyler Stewart and they are excellent! Due to life circumstances, I am looking to sell these in Oregon only as it is much too cold to be shipping anywhere. We live in Salem and would be willing to meet in Portland or Eugene if this helps.
They are about 6...
Can a tortoise safely eat hard egg shell? I would think that since they don't really chew, it would be sharp going down and moving through the intestines?
I just don't understand how people would handle the poop and pee. Sort of like a puppy who isn't potty trained. But usually people have taken measures to monitor and clean that up knowing that the end is in sight soon. With a tort, you would constantly be on the lookout.
Cool Terry!
Any info you would be willing to share on reducing your redfoot herd? Just curious as these guys were your passion for some time. Is it just to focus on your water ones now?
Thanks again for sharing!
Really Neat! Thanks for getting this footage!
``Hey, I notice you have reduced your redfoot herd some lately....Why was that? You focusing on the water species mainly now?
I have found now that I have a 8 inch redfoot, that he moves his large flower pot wherever he wants it. Redecorating the enclosure just doesn't work anymore, he'll just move the 2 hides.
I have purchased from Tyler, and through "nature's calling" NOT resulting in anything he or I could have prevented, He still made things right with me!
Excellent Customer Service!

I have noticed that this cherryhead's head (1.5 Years old) has been seeming to lose coloration. It has always been much more "orange" version of color for a cherryhead, but it appears to be fading out. None of my other torts are experiencing this and they are all fed the same.
1. Is this a...
So if I understand you correctly Jeff, The "het" tortoise is more "valuable" (for breeding) because if you have 2 "hets" mating, you get a 33% chance of producing a visual hypo? (OFC, this is all subjective regarding "valuable", but in relation to hypo babies)
I also thought a recessive gene...
I have had a tortoise vomit Mustard greens when I fed it the first time. Have you noticed any vomiting with the introduction of a never before eaten leaf?
I didn't mix in some Mustard Green, just put a leaf in by itself.
Thanks for this article and Photo's too!
