Does anyone know what type of turtle this is? It was found in a wet woody area of someone’s yard in Gainesville, GA. I did not find this turtle someone sent me pictures asking if I knew what type it was.
I am in the coastal southeastern US which is hot and humid >7 months, brisk 2 months of the year and spotty cold 3 months but rarely below freezing for more than 10 nights total.
Our girl has wintered inside since a hatchling and now is outside.
Thanks Yvonne. Do you have a go to source for such a small amount or a recommended thickness/width? Best idea I have is the rug mat idea or maybe vinyl underlayment (for carpets).
Thank you everyone for your help. We took it to the turtle vet today and he confirmed that it had died. We are heartbroken. It happened so quickly. It was such a good healthy tortoise and was doing so well.
The temperatures here in Charleston will be around 80 tomorrow and our 3 year old tortoise will be feasting outside for Thanksgiving. Is the baby tortoise too young to go outside (in enclosure) for a little bit? What is the minimum temperature/time for it?
Thanks,
Marion
Yes, big tortoise is definitely disease free and healthy. We have had him for 3 1/2 years since he was a baby. He has not been around any other tortoises since.
Hello Everyone,
We just got our baby leopard tortoise in the mail this morning from @Will . It is a beautiful baby and arrived safe and sound. We also have a 3 1/2 year old leopard tortoise that lives mostly outside during the warmer months, but has just moved into his new winter inside...
The tort is out for delivery. I will let you know when it arrives. Quick question, how long should I quarantine him from our 3 year old leopard tortoise?
Thanks,
Marion
