    Grooves in shell

Hi all! I've not posted in a LONG time but have a question. First, I'll start with some back ground info: I have a young redfoot (that I believe is likely going to be female) that just turned 4 years old this summer. I got 'Jet' at about 6 months & shortly after my...

    Pics of Gypsy

Super pretty! Nice growth -I'm snooping through old posts as I have not logged on in awhile. Think you commented on my near 2 year old RF (Jet) who had puncture wounds on his shell - his growth is a bit malformed now but good health otherwise. I'm envious of your babies pretty balanced shell ;)

Jet is back outside! :) Shell is not developing normally :(

EJ - He was very DONE with this past Kentucky Winter! Last year I was able to get him outside a bit earlier but he sure loves the warm months here :) His hibiscus tree is happy to go outside with him too! & D'marcus - he does look good overall for everything he went through - when I found him...

Jet is back outside! :) Shell is not developing normally :(

Hi all, It's been a long time since I posted and enough time to have forgotten how to post pictures here... I will need to back track notes and figure it out again! By mid April Jet started getting extra active inside and I knew he was ready to go outside ASAP! He has been outside for about a...

    Eye trait in males.

Interesting topic. I have just one northern that has a dark 'soft' eye and a rather placid nature. It is only a year old so time will tell if turns out female. The tort's with the 'halo' around the iris do have a more serious, intimidating look --- if it were to be a more typical male trait...

    'Wet surface' shell rot thought

Hi Mark! Great thread considering I JUST went through this with my little redfoot Jet. We had a month of rain and he stays in his hides 80% of the time. His outdoor enclosure is topsoil with cypress on top. I know he is out and about a lot because he keeps the plants in there mowed down... but...

    Jet has shell rot

Matt, thanks sooo much for your feedback! I had a hard time setting my camera so the pictures were not blurry. Hopefully the pictures are now clear enough so people could see what I was dealing with - should I take him to the vet based on the damage you can see or try and treat it at home first...

    Jet has shell rot

Thanks Yvonne and Terryo - he looks good until you flip him onto his belly! I think the shell rot treatment is going to heal him in no time! Funny that you both think he is 'beautiful' -- I still see him as a 'Plain Jane' specimen compared to so many of the orange-ish colored and cherry head...

    Jet has shell rot

Okay, I got some shots of Jet's shell rot and his overall growth (top views). The few spots I noticed last week or so have spread to be more than I thought :( I followed the directions per the video nerd has on redfoots.com (thanks Terryo for helping with the links!) I took a second pic today...

    Jet has shell rot

THANKS! I could view the videos that way! :) I'm glad you said 1% Clotrimazole because I got a rash on my neck a few months back and was given a prescription for 10.0 mg Clotrimazole - wondered if I could use it... I'm sure its way too strong for a yearling so I just bought some OTC stuff...

    Jet has shell rot

I guess I was referring to posts within that thread regarding Betadine and Chlorhexidine... I tried to pull up the video through the link at redfoots.com but it says, 'registration is currently disabled" so currently I'm unable to access the video. :( I just tried to read through comments from...

    Jet has shell rot

I saw references to treating shell rot on 'Important Threads' listed under the redfoot and yellowfoot section. I'll take a look at the video. Thanks! *** it won't let me register an account so I can view link/video --- I'll try again later...
